Abstract

|
The effects of riboflavin deficiency on the levels of riboflavin, FMN .and FAD in various tissues of rats have been investigated. Riboflavin deficiency led to marked depression in growth and weight of organs such as liver, heart and kidney. There was a dramatic reduction in the levels of FMN and FAD in liver and kidney but in those of FMN only in the brain and in those of riboflavin and FAD in the heart. It may be concluded that riboflavin deficiency exerts different effects in a specific manner on the levels of free flavins in various tissues of rats.
